Dr. Clem is who we call our Chief Wellness Officer. He goes by Dr. Clem, Dr. C, Dr. Nate and the kiddos in our office have many other names. He has been a licensed Chiropractor since 2004. He truly lives and promotes a healthy lifestyle, which includes Chiropractic care, moving well (running, basketball, football, core training, yoga), eating well (superfoods) and thinking well (meditation, expressing gratitude).
Originally, from Burlington, Iowa, Dr. Clem moved to Seattle in the Spring of 2004. A member of a chiropractic family, he received his first chiropractic adjustment when he was two days old. He then grew up hearing, “its time for your attitude adjustment” and off to the chiropractor he went. Having grown up around natural healthcare, he both experienced the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle and witnessed the adverse affects of unhealthy habits. Dr. C believes “we have an innate ability to heal ourselves and to be healthy.”
He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, where he also played football. Go Knights! He then entered Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, the birthplace of Chiropractic, graduating in February of 2004. While at Palmer he volunteered at the local patient outreach clinic that provides free chiropractic and healthcare services to low-income families; participated in a service abroad program setting up healthcare clinics in Fiji; and completed a one-year internship in the pediatric unit of the university clinic.
Dr. Clem is passionate about providing care to the entire family and is a Certified Pediatric Chiropractor. Treating children and families as a whole is paramount, as healthy habits are learned in the home. He believes that we can assist families in developing healthy habits and thus set the groundwork for generations to come. Dedicating his time to the community as a basketball and football coach allows Dr. Clem the opportunity to share his enthusiasm for keeping kids active, while teaching them the importance of a healthy lifestyle. These ideals set the vision for Discovery Wellness Center’s mission; educate the community on the wonders of Chiropractic care and liberate you from the sick care model we are surrounded by to experience your body’s full expression of health and intelligence on a daily basis.
Dr. Clem uses a "whole person approach" when taking care of his patients. By combining the very best hand’s-on technique, state-of-the-art physiotherapy procedures, and providing the newest and best natural vitamin and mineral supplements, Dr. Clem is able to help his clients accelerate their journey to good health.
Courtney is a New Yorker at heart but has fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. She came across chiropractic a couple years ago when she met Dr. Clem. She had no idea how much she needed to be under care until she received her first adjustment. She is now addicted. Her health has completely changed for the better and she has never felt more in tune with her body.
When Courtney is not working the front desk or connecting with the community she works as a Licensed Mental Health Therapist in Private Practice with children, adolescents and families. Her work at DWC has taught her so much about how chiropractic can help kiddos, in particular those with neurodevelopmental disorders.
She has experienced how the combination of Mental Health Therapy and regular Chiropractic adjustments provide healing and improve the child’s ability to function, focus and aid in development.
Courtney uses her down time to practice yoga, go on runs, eat really tasty food and laugh.
Lauren is very excited to join the team at DWC! She is a Seattle native and a graduate of St. Mary's College of Notre Dame, Indiana with her degree in Elementary Education. She has worked extensively with children as a classroom teacher and also as a school librarian. She has also lived in Rome, Italy where she taught English to Italian children and learned to speak Italian. Lauren is passionate about working with children and contributing to their education and overall well being. When Lauren is not working, she enjoys spending time with her two children, playing with her new nephew, reading, and going for walks outdoors.
